About - Performers - Heather Christian
HEATHER CHRISTIAN is the daughter of a blues musician and a go-go dancer. Primarily a songstress with her chamber-punk orchestra Heather Christian & the Arbornauts, she can be seen regularly at Joe's Pub and Rockwood Music Hall avant-torching. Her mixed-media pop symphony, North, debuted at LaMama ETC in 2008. She has been seen singing Okinawan pop in Big Dance Theater's The Other Here, as Susan Stewart in Taylor Mac's The Lily's Revenge, as The Lovely Voice in Mac Wellman's 1965UU, and as Laura Wingfield in Jane Comfort's re-staging of Faith Healing at the Joyce SoHo. She has both danced with and composed scores for Jennie-Marytai Liu's dances (Bloodwork, Learning in Lower Animals, Homebirth), and the works of Janicza Bravo (Romeo and Juliet, Mud- LA production, Eat- 2011 SXSW Festival). She is a core member of Witness Relocation Company and was most recently seen donning a space suit in Okada's 5 Days in March  at LaMama ETC. Other plays with Witness Relocation include Dancing Vs. the Rat Experiment, Vicious Dogs on Premises, Haggadah, Heaven on Earth).  She has been seen with The T.E.A.M. in Architecting at PS122, and is currently an in-house composer for the T.E.A.M.'s new work Mission Drift.  She was recently named one of TimeOut NY's Downtown Innovators To Watch.
